Hello! Starting with SPF...

I can’t wait to get into all things skincare and give you my recommendations! To start off we’re going to be discussing what is arguably the most important step in a skincare routine: SPF!

As we leave the summer months behind us, it can be tempting to think that protecting your skin from the sun is no longer necessary. But don’t be fooled by grey clouds and rain, our skin is still at risk of sun damage.

In short, there are two types of radiation that we need to protect against. UVB radiation is what causes your skin to burn which is what most people use a suncream for. However, UVA radiation is associated with aging, wrinkles, pigmentation and damaging elastin, whilst both have clear links to skin cancer. It is therefore highly important that we wear a daily SPF of 30 or more if we want to stay protected (and no, a tinted moisturiser/foundation with SPF doesn’t count!)

Recently I tried the Thank You Farmer’s SPF 50 Water Sun Cream which has quickly become my absolute favourite after trying many other SPF’s that all tended to be too thick and sticky. Thank you Farmer is a Korean skincare brand that uses natural, farm-grown ingredients that help maintain skin health and delay the ageing process. Think simple, ‘does what it says’ skin care. This product is SPF 50+ and boasts a: Lightweight, non-greasy formula, no white-cast due to the fact it is a chemical suncream (I will explain this at a later date) and is 50ml which lasts for ages even with daily use. It also has Hyaluronic Acid for hydration! An all-round winner!!

I would really urge you, if you haven’t already, to think about adding a daily suncream into your routine- further SPF products will follow in later blog posts. I think this one is great, but if you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments as I am always up for trying more!
